Taare Zameen Par titled Like Stars on Earth for Disneys international DVD is a 2007 Indian educational drama film produced and directed by Aamir Khan. Darsheel Safary stars as eightyearold Ishaan, and Khan plays his art teacher. Creative director and writer Amole Gupte initially developed the idea with his wife Deepa Bhatia, who served as the films editor. Visual effects are by Tata Elxsis Visual Computing Labs, and the title animationthe first use of clay animation in a Bollywood filmwas created by Dhimant Vyas. ShankarEhsaanLoy composed the films score, and Prasoon Joshi wrote the lyrics for many of the songs. Principal photography took place in Mumbai and in Panchganis New Era High School, and some of the schools students make appearances.
